I just recouped from having my second jaw surgery, and i decided to take my GTA up to Saskatoon for fun *since i cant work or lift anything over 30lbs* so just before i left town i noticed a metal *tinny* sounding noise kinda grinding against something for about 2 seconds; i thought this was odd so i drove it around town before my 2hr drive trying to make the car do it again, nothing so i took off to Saskatoon.
Oddly my GTA seemed under powered kinda boggy. When cruising i would just touch the gas to pass someone and this time it seemed like i had to use 1/4 throttle just to pass. I got to Saskatoon everything ran ok i got to my parents house and parked; the next day i went to Future Shop and the car still felt a bit under powered and when i accelerated that tinny metal sounding noise came back but only for 5 secounds then disapeared; so on the way back to my parents house this is when hell broke loose, car under powered, vibration, and the noise is now a constant metal screeching noise. Now i put the car into park and rev the engine no funny noise; but when i put the car into drive this is when all hell breaks loose; even when i let off the gas at freeway speeds it still makes this noise. So anyone got any advice? Tranny? Driveshaft issue?? or rear brakes/ e brake locking up??? The noise sounds like its coming from the rear.

If you don't smell hot brakes you can rule that out. Must be something significant to cause the car to struggle when in drive. Open the diff, have a look...then move onto the transmission. I could be wrong, but this is the route of investigation I would take.

cracked flexplate or pooched converter? I had the flexplate crack on the gtp and made a ticking sound as it was grinding away at the rear cover lol.

From what im told it is most likely in the transmission; if it was the differential whould it not make a grinding noise?? or sqeel.
I did take the diffcover off last year and changed the oil in it and it looked fine; but since im currently handicapped and have no tools in saskatoon i wont even try to take the diff cover off; its very unsafe for me at the moment do to my recent surgery. So my best bet is to figuer out where i should take the car; transmission shop, garage? what do you guys think? Ive had my car licensed since april and the very first time i take it out of town it breaks down the irony.

I just had my upper jaw broke and moved forward you may of had a friend get this done as it is very common; my first surgery i had my upper jaw widened that was about 3 years ago, now getting your jaw widened is much more dangerous for you and for the surgeon to cut a blood vessel.
My first surgery i hemeraged *bled out* a week after, i had to drive myself to the hospital in no more than a pair of shorts in -30 weather while holding a slurpy cup to catch all the blood coming out. If you want a graphic image it was kinda like if someone had cut your jugguler, but instead i had blood coming out of my eyes, nose, and mouth. By the time i got to the hospital the nurses upgraded my slurpy cup to a huge pop corn bowl; then the doctor shoved some tubes down my nose and inflated them, this luckily put pressure on were ever the hemerage was and stopped the bleeding; i was rushed to Saskatoon were they did a cool sci fi surgery were they used a tiny tool/ camera while laying on a xray machine they fixed the hemerage by cutting the main artery by my right hip and inserting this long thing up my artery into my head where they fused the hemerage or welded. *cool eh* So its funny how fast your life can be taken away; and all i did was lift something a bit to heavy to invoke the hemerage.

so i towed my GTA fto HUB automatic on idywld *dont know how you spell it* this is were the tranny was rebuilt last time before i bought it.
So it turns out i had 2 seized universals on the driveshaft and a destroyed tranny mount; needless to say i was very happy to only spend a couple hundred for the repair and be on my way. ![]()
